Studio work is planned for Saturdays. Thats when I create collages, or videos, or digitally worked images. Framing stuff is for this day too. Of course, I work on Val Gal on Saturdays. If a photograph is not strong enough in the exhibit it will be Saturday when I sort it out of the machine.
But to do this stuff sometimes take preparation. Whether or not I do preparatory work during the week depends how busy it is. Or how impatient I am to get things done.
Lets take an example. I have been mounting the new exhibition since the beginning of September. Since the first day of the season is usually around the twentieth of the month , this gives me three weeks to hang. I do everything solo so I have to make choices. I figure if the public Corridor gallery is hung up and ready I am on schedule. The Rose Studio Gallery is open only to serious buyers and to those who I take on a Gallery Tour. All this to say there were ten works to be finished and framed for the 21st of September. That translates into about three frames each Saturday.
So the first Saturday in September I just started everything that morning. I went into my files to see what I would print out. the Theme was Autumn Leaves: New City. So I had to go find all my autumn images. Easier said than done.
First thing that happened. I couldn't find the autumn file. I have trillion KG external hard drives so since they weren't in the place I thought they were it took a long time for the search engine to work. So I couldn't even find the images on computer.
Second thing. I went into my paper dossiers to find the images that were already done. As luck would have it, the file I wanted wasn't readily available. I had to go through the archives which meant going up a ladder and going through several large volumes of paper.
Needless to say, Saturday went by with me just looking for anything. Nothing got done. Certainly there were not three frames finished.
Just finding the selection, stretched out into the middle of the week. That meant some serious adjustments had to be made to my schedule.
